We all know that the countries of the world today are not without the presence of rioters who have always caused riots and violated the prevailing norms in the country.

Turkey is not isolated from these issues, in this article we shed light on the issue of racism against foreign tourists.

Recently, and specifically after the defeat of the opposition parties against the ruling People’s Alliance in Turkey, many events have surfaced, some of which were filmed and spread like wildfire on social media platforms.

We have to ask who benefits most from these events and thus the finger of accusation is pointed at them for fabricating these events.

And who are those who led the talk about deporting refugees and then showed blatant hostility to Arabs?

We all know that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as soon as the results of his victory in the last elections were announced, headed to Arab countries to conclude international investments and commercial contracts with the Gulf states.

As for the opposition that lost the elections, its only agenda is to show the failure of the current government and prove the mistake of the Turkish voter who chose the People’s Alliance.

One of the most prominent attacks by the opposition figures to the People’s Alliance is their attacks on Syrian refugees, and their portrayal of them as occupiers of Turkey, not refugees.

After the attacks on refugees, the matter extended to attacking Arab tourists and then foreigners in general!!

Here we must pause to follow the events and see them with an impartial eye. The following will be noted: – Anyone who looks at the state of xenophobic advocates will find that most of them are of foreign origin. The leader of the opposition, Kemal Kilicdaroglu and Umit Ozdag, are of foreign origin.

Given that Turkish law grants many foreigners the right to obtain citizenship according to many justifications that are usually easy for many foreigners.

Individual incidents:

Incidents of racism in Turkey are not accompanied by official support, as is the case in many countries. As soon as some videos were circulated, the Turkish president held a meeting with many Muslim scholars to discuss ways to confront advocates of division and racism.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed on Wednesday 06/09/2023 that his government will not allow “the spread of racism and xenophobia”, noting that while all kinds of measures are being taken against illegal immigration, Turkey “welcomes its foreign guests who contribute to the Turkish economy”.

Misinterpretations: It is known that Turkey, as a state of law, does not allow foreigners to violate the country’s law, nor does it allow Turkish citizens to do so. Many observers of the events have misinterpreted the procedures for deporting violators and those who do not have the right to enter the country, such as those who do not hold a residence permit or do not hold a temporary protection card, and made their deportation a new government approach in dealing with foreigners.

This prompted Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya to give a special interview to Al Jazeera, the most widely followed channel among Arab audiences, to clarify the government’s opinion and respond to the suspicions raised by the opposition.

The country’s many advantages outweigh the bad events of some of the agitators!! As we mentioned earlier, there is no Arab or non-Arab country without those who are motivated and ambitious

for power who ride the wave of hostility towards others

As for the Turkish case, the state and the law are the arbitrators between the disputants. It is important for the resident to be well acquainted with the laws of the country, and for the tourist to also seek the help of those who know the laws of the country to facilitate his transactions smoothly and away from complications.
